Membership in the Association provides a source for updates on issues and developments affecting the metal building systems erectors in the province of Alberta. This includes scheduling for apprenticeship classes, regulations, challenge of MBSE examinations by qualified applicants, seminars, periodic newsletters, future direction for the Association membership, etc. From the response received in the past, it is likely that refresher courses for workers wishing to challenge the qualification examinations may be offered at annually. The Association will subsidize (for AMBA members only) a portion of the tuition fees involved.
From all reports, the metal building industry will be active this year and beyond. Shortages of competent journeyman and apprentice metal building system erectors have been noted for some time and are expected to continue. It is vital that training for new apprentices continue in order to offer a possible solution to future manpower needs.
