After graduating high school, Zack entered the construction industry as a welding apprentice, where he learned the fundamentals of fitting, fabricating, and welding structural steel. During this time, he achieved journeyman Red Seal status in the field of welding. He spent the first seven years of his career in the shop, primarily working on the manufacturing of metal buildings and oilfield equipment. Following that, he transitioned into the field, working with steel erecting companies across Western Canada. 

After 12 years in the welding and steel erection industry, Zack co-founded Mettle Industrial Services alongside his business partners, Jay Bowerin and Lucas Henke. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Mettle specializes in the erection of conventional and pre-engineered metal buildings. His company is built on a foundation of field experience, craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to quality and safety. He is proud to bring this perspective to the Alberta Metal Builders Association as a member of the Board of Directors.
